TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY

Travel photography is less about the destination and more about the quality of attention you bring to it. These photographs were made across Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and the Middle East — in the backstreets of Osaka, the autumn slopes of Mount Fuji, the volcanic coastlines of Jeju, the sacred plains of Arafah, and the heritage quarters of Melaka. Each one is a sustained look at a place rather than a passing glance. Shot over multiple journeys across Asia, this is an ongoing archive — and it is far from finished.

Hiroshima Peace Memorial, Japan — The Genbaku Dome stands as it has since 1945 — preserved deliberately in its ruined state.
Hozugawa River, Arashiyama, Kyoto — The river curves through the gorge under low cloud and mist, autumn colour bleeding into the hillsides.
Masjidil Haram, Mecca, Saudi Arabia — Thousands in white, moving in circles around the Kaabah.
Jannat al-Baqi, Medina, Saudi Arabia — Birds scatter above the ancient cemetery as the green dome of Masjid Nabawi rises behind.
Masjidil Haram, Mecca, Saudi Arabia — The minarets rise into a clear blue sky at golden hour. Even the approach feels like arrival.

Jeongbang Falls, Jeju Island, South Korea — One of the few waterfalls in Asia that drops directly into the sea. The rocks hold their ground.
Jeju Island, South Korea — A squid fishing boat heads out past the lighthouse and the tetrapods. The sea is grey, the sky is grey, the boat is going anyway.
Jeju Island, South Korea — Two figures at the edge of a volcanic cliff, lines cast into the sea below. The sea doesn't notice them. They don't seem to mind.
Gamcheon Culture Village, Busan, South Korea — A hillside of a thousand colours, built by refugees and claimed by artists. Every rooftop a different shade of blue.
Sungai Melaka, Melaka, Malaysia — A river cruise winds past a row of colourful heritage shophouses, the old city stacking up behind in layers of terracotta and history.
